Albuquerque Soaring Club

New Officer and Upcoming Events

I am excited to announce that Jon Daffer has agreed to help our club by serving in the officer role of Chief Instructor. The position was vacant since Stan Roeske stepped down on August 1st. Note that this is not a role that Jon is unfamiliar with and please welcome him. During the coming months he will be helping to coordinate instruction with existing students, considering use of outside resources, troubleshooting a loss of some potential new members that were told not to join due to our current low number of instructors and helping a new crop of instructors come online.

Have you thought about becoming a CFI-G? We are working with Owl Canyon and White Sands to make this easier than ever. Please contact Colleen if you are interested regardless of your current status.

I am also excited to talk about the Double Eagle Land of Enchantment Fly-In this Saturday. It is from 0800-1500; come see us at our club booth if you decide to stop by.

We also have Ops training coming up on 9/22. This will qualify for WINGS credit. We had fun with those of you that attended the landout session. Please attend this session that contains vital information about safe operations on the ground, new policies that should help with keeping clear logs and helpful practices for ensuring our members return home.

If that isn’t enough, Oktoberfest is now on the event calendar.

Lastly, we called over 50 of you to update the membership email roster (this is a good start) but we still need help with keeping track of our existing members and developing new members. Please let me know at if you are interested in filling our new, vacant Membership Officer position.
