Here's something I learned today- the FAA has determined through experimentation that the minimum hydroplaning speed of a tire is directly related to its pressure. The relationship is
Minimum hydroplaning speed=8.6(tire pressure)^(1/2)
where speed is in knots, and tire pressure is in psi

In words, the minimum hydroplaning speed of a tire in knots is 8.6 times the square root of the tire pressure in psi
